The Taroja Walking Corpse Revisited.

It is hard to believe that actually corpse able to walk and what more if they are lifeless. Yet, the mystery of walking corpse is normal for the people of Taroja. Thus, it is like seeing a magic show yet at the same time even our life is full of mystery. In fact, the said phenomena is not only mentioned that the story about the working corpse is a norm among the Tana Taroja but also mentioned by a blogger from Mamasa Online. Interestingly, the mystery is not only has become a debate among the new generation of the Tana Taroja as well the Mamasa but most of them disregarded it because they were never witnesses a such case in their life.
The corpse was not embalmed or given any herbs to preserved like the Ancient Egyptians .
Yet at the same time, Wildfrid Step B, an academic from the University of Tadulako, observers communication, sociology, cultural anthropology, and social psychology strongly believe that such phenomena once exists as he argued that the source that mentioned the mystery was from the famous magazine in Indonesia which is, back in 1972 an article about the existence of a cave in the village of Sillanan, Gandang Stone has been published.
Thus, Cave Sillanan in Menkendek, Tana Toraja could be a witness of the tradition of walking corpses among the Toraja in the past. According to the story of Bupati Tampubolon, there was a Sillanan cave in the village about 20 km south of Makale was mentioned since 1905 which is human body that still intact, do not decay until now has been found. The corpse was not embalmed nor given any herbs like the Ancient Egyptians. But it could remain intact. Therefore, Tampubolon opinions that there is the possibility of such a substance within the cave that could preserve corpses. Hence, the bloggers suggested that if only there were a geological and chemical experts who want to spend some times investigating the place, presumably Sillanan cave puzzle maybe can be solved.
However, regardless of the Taroja walking corpse remain as mystery, being disregarded by the new generations of Taroja itself yet I believe that the mystery must be true based on the story of the Taroja tradition as well the beliefs on the existence of an ancient knowledge that can be used to hypnosis the corpse. Furthermore, the reason why the new generation of the Taroja as well the Mamasa disregarded the mystery because most of them have been converted to Christianity and Catholicism that might have brings impact on the tradition.
However, although the said mystery has not been proven to be true but it is our hope, at least there are someone who are responsible in capturing the images that are related to this mystery can confirm the validity of the photos. Perhaps, we need more people to come forward to give their testimony as well share knowledge about this matter as the Malaysian Ghost Research’ researcher continue to search new possibility on such matters.
